Editorial
The ``A` Panhellenic Conference on Electronics and Telecommunications-2009`` is the first national conference on the topic. It has been organized by the Electronics and the Telecommunications laboratories of the University of Patras-Greece. This first event has taken place at the University of Patras. The motivation for starting up this conference was from the association of ΠΑΣΜΕΦΗΡ established by post-graduate physicists in Electronics and Telecommunications. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for presenting recent research work and for bringing together Greek scientists and engineers who work in this field.
Forty papers have been submitted for the conference. All of these papers have been reviewed according to international standards. Each paper has been sent to three reviewers whose evaluation and comments were sent to authors. Finally, according to reviewers' evaluation, twenty-five papers have been selected as regular papers and fifteen contributions as posters. The majority of the regular papers cover quite diverse subjects. However they have been classified for presentation in five non-parallel sessions.
The introductory lecture of the conference was presented by K. Karoubalos, a well known Greek professor, one of the leaders in telecommunications in Greece, who has contributed for many years in this field. The first four sessions were introduced by invited speakers who are experts in their field of interest.
On behalf of the scientific committee I would like to thank the invited speakers, the authors, the reviewers, the ΠΑΣΜΕΦΗΡ association, the participants, my colleagues and the postgraduate students of the Electronics laboratory, and all those who contributed for the success of the conference.
I'd also like to share with all Greek counterparts my experience on the organization of the scientific part of the conference mentioning that all persons I contacted to for assistance offered it enthusiastically. This fact is a guarantee for repeating the conference in the future anywhere in Greece in order to enable further productive discussion of ideas for the technological advancement of our country and for improving the learning environment of our students.
